A motorcylist has died after a crash involving a truck on SH6 near Nelson this morning.
A police spokesperson says they were called to the crash on Whangamoa Rd shortly after 10.30am on Monday.
They say the motorcyclist died at the scene.
The road is closed in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
Waka Kotahi NZTA says the road is closed north of Whangamoa Saddle (Nelson side of Serpentine Straight)
The serious crash unit is attending so the road is likely to remain closed for some time.
The only detour available is via SH63 Wairau Valley and St Arnaud.
