A 20-year-old from Nelson has been named as the woman who died after a crash on SH6 near Hira on Saturday.
A police spokesperson says she was Trudi Hannah Kent, 20, of Nelson.
The crash happened shortly after midnight on Saturday and Kent was flown to Wellington Hospital with critical injuries.
"Our sympathies are with her family and friends at this time," says the spokesperson.
Police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
