A woman has been flown to hospital after the car she was driving went over a bank on the Takaka Hill Highway this morning.
A police spokesperson says they were called to the crash near Bates Rd, shortly before 9.30am Tuesday.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, suffered minor to moderate injuries.
"The driver was able to get out of the car by herself and waited with a passing motorist until emergency services provided," says the spokesperson.
Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was called in to transport the woman to Nelson Hospital. The road was closed until around 10.15am to allow the helicopter to land.
In another incident Police received reports of a crash on The Coastal Highway, Mapua at 10.30am.
Police say one vehicle is reported to have hit a barrier and Fire and Emergency NZ and an ambulance is also in attendance.
There are no reports of any injuries or road blockages.
