At Nelson Central School on Sunday, May 16, I'm going to take part in a challenge and a gala.
There is going to be a gala from some classes in the school like a ‘kombucha’ group (that is my group) a ‘stress ball’ group, a ‘hand sanitiser’ group, and also a ‘dream catcher’ group - that is eco-friendly.
If you go to the school on the day and you go up to a table, there will be a map for the challenge.
Then, you will be given a map of Nelson with a landmark of where the numbers are for the orienteering.
Whoever gets back to the school first, with all the orienteering numbers completed, wins the challenge.
My principal, Pip Wells, says the Central Challenge is a fun family and friends' game to do around the Nelson city.
"It's a family-friendly game for all ages.’’
There will also be some toys for kids and there will be a ‘Rogaine’ with a map, directions where to go, and you will need to come with your friends or family.
There will also be games which will be ‘find the Lego guy’ and ‘hit down the coconuts’ and bouncy castles. There will also be food that people can buy like fish burgers, coffee, hot chocolate, and hotdogs.
There is also going to be a raffle stall where you go up to a stall and buy a raffle ticket and they will call out the winning number. Then you can go up to the stall where you got the ticket from and you will choose a jar full of stuff like art pens, stickers or a bouncy ball.
Afterwards people will be able to buy one of those jars for $2.
