Tasman Police are appealing for help from the public to identify a woman found deceased near Charleston, just south of Westport on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson says the woman, believed to be in her 30s to mid-50s, was found by a member of the public on Tuesday afternoon, at the base of a bluff, a short distance from a local walking track south of Constant Bay.
Police says they have not received any missing persons reports for a person matching the description of the deceased woman, and have so far been unable to identify her.
"We are hoping someone in the community may be able to help. Given the recent long weekend, it is also possible this person was a visitor to the area."
The woman is wearing grey/pale blue ¾ leggings, and a floral top (pictured), under a dark blue top. She is also wearing grey sneakers.
Police have not located any vehicles in the vicinity, so believe the woman may have walked from an address in the wider Charleston area.
