The leather sneakers are by Common Projects from Workshop. The pants are a straight-cut chino from Ralph Lauren. The black leather belt was bought at Gustave’s. The petrol-coloured collarless linen shirt by Crossley and the black knitted blazer/cardigan (blardigan) by Marni are both from Edit. The sunglasses are a collaboration between Mykita and Leica.
What is your style?
Classic menswear with a contemporary twist – and always comfortable.
What is most of your wardrobe made up of?
Tailored pants, shirts in natural fabrics, wool sweaters – versatility is key. And lots of corduroy!
What are you loving at the moment?
‘Pablo’, a sweet and citrusy fragrance by Auckland-based perfumier Curionoir. It is divine and reminds me to live in the present.
What are you dressed for today?
I’m in Mapua meeting some friends for a drink at Rimu Wine Bar and afterwards having dinner at The Apple Shed.
Where do you buy most of your clothes from?
Untouched World, Rodd and Gunn, Gustave’s, Edit, online.
What is your approach to shopping?
I generally look for beautiful natural fabrics in classic designs that will complement the rest of my wardrobe and which I can imagine myself wearing ten years from now. I highly recommend getting clothes fitted by a tailor, such as Pyne and Eid on Hardy Street who do a wonderful job.
What is your all-time favourite purchase?
A mid-brown suede jacket by Rodd and Gunn. Expensive, impractical, heavy - and yet completely gorgeous.
What wardrobe item should everyone invest in?
A long-sleeved classic Mountainsilk crew from Untouched World or any merino sweater. Merino is a miracle fabric – lightweight, breathable, and produced in Aotearoa!
