Nelson Giants fan Duncan Gray had a night to remember at the Trafalgar Centre on Saturday night.
Firstly, his team won, but probably more memorable for him, he nailed a half-court shot to bring a sold-out Trafalgar Centre to its feet and win himself a cool $1500 cash, donated by key Giants' sponsor Mike Pero.
Incredibly, it isn't the first time the Nelson business owner has won at the Giants. In 2015 the social basketballer won a car in a on-court promotion.
This time he was tasked with scoring a shot from half way at three-quarter time. He had just one chance and immediately looked confident asking for plenty of support from the crowd before a nothing-but-net shot.
As it went in, the sold out Trafalgar Centre roared with approval and Duncan threw his hands in the air in celebration. Immediately after the shot he said he was feeling "pretty damn good".
"I wasn't feeling that nervous, I was fairly confident that I could make the shot, and I did so it's all good."
Duncan plays in the Nelson Basketball mens B grade competition which kicked off earlier in the week with Duncan's side going down in a close loss.
When first asked what he'd do with the money he thought some new basketballs would be appropriate but then thought better of it.
"I'll probably leave it up to the wife to decide."
Meanwhile, the Giants picked up a big 85-77 win over Canterbury. Full match report here.
