The list of those standing for mayor of Nelson City has grown to four, with Tim Skinner announcing he will once again stand for the city's top job.
The three-term Nelson City councillor says he has made the decision to stand for Mayor of Nelson following a difficult and challenging year for councillors to achieve unity.
"This has been compounded by the unfortunate interference of party political interests around the Council table. The effect of that on democratic decision-making has been devastating," he says.
Already announced in the running is former councillor Kerry Neal, current councillors Matt Lawrey and Rohan O'Neill-Stevens, with former Nelson MP Nick Smith publicly declaring he is mulling a bid.
Tim was unsuccessful in his 2019 mayoralty bid with 3,717 votes, but was re-elected as a councillor.
He says the public have always been able to depend on his "consistent and common sense decision-making".
Tim says he will provide "solid no-nonsense leadership", direction to improve the environment, facilitate economic development, bring back genuine engagement with the community, and improve the wellbeing and health of our community.
"I have never stood on the fence, nor have I ever shied away from listening and championing our people and local businesses."
He stands opposed to the current Three Waters reform saying he is "pushing back" against the handover of Nelson's Three Waters assets.
"We have an incredibly diverse and beautiful city, populated by an amazing and resilient people. As Mayor I will continue to be an approachable representative for all people and our region, and will remain at all times forthright in ensuring a healthier Nelson for all to flourish."
