More than 4000 people have been wowed by the first Illuminate Light & Sound Experience which saw Founders Heritage Park transformed into an immersive light experience over the weekend.
Glow-in-the-dark archery, a silent disco, and bouncy castles are all included in the ticket price, along with large, illuminated blow-ups of marine creatures, space exploration and toadstools.

The show, which began in Christchurch last year will be an annual event says event manager Kate Radcliffe-Reid.
“We’ve had the most amazing feedback. Everyone’s having such a good time.”
The show, which originated in Ferrymead Heritage Park in Christchurch last year, expanded to Nelson for it's first stint out of the city.

"We're super excited to be doing two weeks here before Christchurch this year," Kate says.
Last year's Christchurch event was run as a 30-minute drive-thru track due to Covid-19 restrictions, but will run as a walk-thru event this year.
Kate says a great thing about the show is that it is a cheap night out for the whole family.
"Normally at an event you’ll pay extra to go on everything, but here you've got a Silent Disco, archery, bouncy castles, they're all included in the ticket price.

She says the first four days of the show was a success with almost 4500 people coming through the park's gates.
"It was packed but the layout in Founders is so forgiving."
Kate says the team opted to hire Nelson College for Girls students to assist with the running of the show, rather than bringing staff with them from Christchurch, to help support the local economy.
"That's really important to us, that we are supporting Nelson's economy with the show."
