Preliminary results from the elections have seen some movement in those who are likely to be elected as councillors in both Nelson and Tasman.
So far, the only change in Nelson has been in the Stoke-Tāhunanui Ward which has seen Ian Barker drop out of an elected spot in favour of newcomer Matthew Benge who slightly overtook former-councillor Ian Barker on the 19th iteration.
Mel Courtney, Campbell Rollo and Trudie Brand remain the three top members in the Stoke-Tāhunanui Ward.
Nick Smith’s lead for mayor is now more than 4000 votes ahead of his nearest competitor, Matt Lawrey.
Rohan O’Neill-Stevens, Tim Skinner and Rachel Sanson remain in an elected position ‘at large’.
Pete Rainey, Aaron Stallard, Matty Anderson and James Hodgson are still sitting as elected members in the Central Ward.
Kahu Paki Paki remains as the elected member to Nelson’s first Māori Ward.
The voter return in Nelson was 51.13 per cent, being 20,082 voting papers, excluding special votes, which are still to be counted. Final results will be available later next week.
In Tasman, mayor Tim King’s lead has extended to more than 9000 votes ahead of his nearest rival Mike Harvey.
The only other movement in Tasman is in the Motueka Community Board which looks to see Terina Graham elected over Dana Carter.
The voter return in Tasman was 48.87 per cent, being 20,303 votes, excluding special votes.
These results are still subject to change as special votes are counted.
