Firefighters are decontaminating a building in Wakatu Industrial Estate after a fire on Tuesday morning.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says crews have been on site since 6.15am.
A small amount of chemicals are at the site, which now requires decontamination.
Elm Street is closed, with people asked to stay away from the area. A cordon has been set up at the intersection of Elm Street and Kotua Place.
