Chicago High School Edition by Nelson Youth Theatre Company

‘Murder, greed, sex, corruption, adultery ... and all that jazz’ - words like these have the makings of a great show and Nelson Youth Theatre Company well and truly delivered.
From the start to the end the energy didn’t let up. Team Emily performed on opening night and from the very first song I knew we were in for a great night.
Emily Furness played Velma. She and Thea Speake were a great acting duo. The two interacted together very well and kept the tempo of the show moving forward at a great pace.
Roxie was a stand out with a strong voice - she perfectly nailed every song, kept in character and drew the crowd to her with acting that made you want more.
Billy, played by Joel Sangster, had some opening night jitters and recovered well to give a stellar performance.
Amos, played by Tobias Young, has grown as an actor with a fantastic voice and a great stage presence. Joelle Noar, who played June in the Cell Block Tango, choreographed the cast with some show stopping dancing, with all the cast looking like they were having a great time - no easy feat with non dancers in the cast.
A special mention to the wardrobe and the makeup team who added something special. The costumes were outstanding and I know how much hard work goes in to this department. Sound and lighting kept up well for such a fast moving show.
Richard and the team have brought Nelson another amazing performance showing what amazing and talented young actors we have.
