State Highway 6 between Kohatu and Kawatiri Junction has reopened to all traffic after bad weather and snowfall caused it to close just before 9am this morning.
Waka Kotahi (NZTA) says driving conditions on the stretch of road are challenging and has warned road users to be cautious and allow for longer travel times.
“Roads are slippery and black ice may be present in some areas,” NZTA says.
“Drivers must take extra care on the roads and check weather and highway conditions before they travel.”
Meanwhile, State Highway 63 between Renwick and St Arnaud remains closed as contractors continue their work to clear snow.
NZTA says a precise reopening time can’t be provided at this time as the work is weather-dependent.
