The Lee Valley fire is now considered contained and controlled.
Incident Controller Steve Trigg says 20 firefighters will continue working throughout Sunday, but there will be a gradual crew reduction in the next few days.
“We saw an increase in wind strength overnight, but we had crews monitoring the fire and the wind had little impact on the fires behaviour," he says.
“We are now in mop-up mode and will slowly be reducing our presence on the fire ground.”
A successful drone mission on Friday night identified hotspots including smaller ones in the adjacent two initial fires that were thought to be extinguished.
The drones are continuing on Sunday to identify any further hotspots.
“Having the drone team here has been invaluable,” Steve Trigg says.
“They have assisted crews working in very difficult and dangerous terrain, meaning progress has been faster than expected.”
The investigation into the cause of the fire, which started on the afternoon of 7 February, is ongoing.
Evacuated residents have also been allowed to return.
Steve thanked the community for its support and patience on behalf of the team working to bring the fire under control.
