Motorists travelling on State Highway 6 near Wakefield have been advised to take extra care and to expect delays following a crash this morning.
Police says it responded to a single vehicle crash which had collided with a power pole on Wakefield-Kohatu Highway, near Hoult Valley Road West.
"It appears one person is in a moderate to serious condition and one person is in a minor condition," it says.
"The road is blocked and diversions are in place, motorists are advised to take the alternate route."
Waka Kotahi (NZTA) says southbound traffic must turn left onto Eighty Eight Valley Rd and then right onto Wai-iti Valley Rd to reconnect with the highway.
The detour route is vice versa for northbound traffic.
