"Nelson City Council, we're calling you out," is the opening line of a challenge laid down by Tasman District Council staffers.
TDC have entered a self-funded team in the Heave-for-Hospice event which will end the charity's Hands up for Hospice campaign at the end of May.
In a video posted to Facebook on Friday, TDC staff lay down the challenge for NCC to "face the mighty Tasman" in the tug-of-war challenge.
They say, while the highlight of the event will be the number of teams who enter, each team paying a $975 donation to Nelson Tasman Hospice to represent their business or group, healthy competition doesn't hurt.
"Surely somewhere near the top of the bill will be a faceoff between Tasman District and Nelson City Councils," TDC said in its post.
"Tasman District Council staff are ready to go toe to toe with their Nelson counterparts – the big question is, have Nelson the mettle to face the might of Tasman?"
