On person died after the vehicle they were driving crashed into a power pole in the early hours of Friday morning.
A police spokesperson says they are investigating the fatal crash at the intersection of Selwyn Street and Abel Tasman Drive, Pōhara.
Emergency services were called just before 1am and sadly, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit was advised and work has begun to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
