A section of State Highway 60 near Appleby was closed for around an hour last night as fire and emergency responded to a transformer inferno near the Blackbyre Rd intersection.
Waka Kotahi NZTA says the highway was officially closed between Lansdowne and Swamp Rd at around 6:45pm while fire and emergency responded to the incident, and motorists were asked to avoid the area and use available detours.
The highway reopened at approximately 7:40 pm.
