
Heavy rain is on its way, with warnings issued across Nelson Tasman for the coming days.
Metservice has issued two Heavy Rain Warnings for the regions covering Tasman northwest of Motueka and the ranges around Nelson.
An orange heavy rain warning is in effect for Tasman northwest of Motueka for the 21 hours from 9am Wednesday, 2 October to 6am Thursday, 3 October.
Metservice warns of between 130 and 160 mm of rain about the ranges, with lesser amounts nearer the coast. Peak rates of 15 to 20 mm/h about the ranges.
The same warning is in effect for the Richmond and Bryant ranges including the Rai Valley for the 20 hours beginning 1pm Wednesday.
Between 90 and 110 mm of rain is expected with peak rates of 10 to 15mm/h.
The worst of the weather is likely to hit on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions are possible.
