Waka Kotahi NZTA has asked motorists to avoid State Highway 65 between the Buller Gorge and Springs Junction following an overturned truck trailer.
The incident, which was reported shortly before 11:30am this morning, occurred near the intersection of State Highway 65 and Pea Soup Rd.
Waka Kotahi says emergency services and contractors are attending the crash and work is underway to reopen the road.
The timeframe for the reopening is yet to be determined.
“Northbound traffic can detour via State Highway 7 to Reefton, then use State Highway 69 to Inangahua, and then State Highway 6 and the Buller Gorge,” Waka Kotahi says.
“The reverse applies for southbound traffic.”
