The Pak‘n Save Richmond Santa Parade will need a new name this year as Pak‘nSave will no longer sponsor the event and plans to spend the money elsewhere in the community.
The supermarket has been sponsoring the parade for more than a decade, and when Glenn and Tracey Anderson became the owner-operators of the Richmond supermarket last year they sponsored the 2024 parade. But they will not be putting money into it this year.
Since they took over the supermarket, Glenn says they have been inundated with sponsorship requests, and they are now reviewing all sponsorships to see where the money is best spent. He says most people did not realise Pak‘n Save was even a sponsor of the parade.
“To be honest, there was confusion because everyone thought it was sponsored by NBS. It made it difficult for us.”
While the parade will miss out on the supermarket’s sponsorship, he says there will be more spent in the community.
“We plan to do more in the community like the rugby clubs and schools. It’s pretty tough out in the community.”
Richmond Unlimited organises the parade and one of its co-ordinators, Maria Ingram, says they will be looking for a new naming sponsor.
“We thank Pak’nSave for their support of the parade over the years. We are obviously saddened by their decision but welcome the opportunity to bring a new naming sponsor onboard.
“It’s a fabulous opportunity for them to be seen to be giving back to the Richmond community that supports their business throughout the year. We would love to hear from businesses who would like to be involved.”
Last year, Pak‘nSave was one of six main sponsors of the parade, including NBS, More FM, Downer, Golden Edge and Richmond Mall.
