Findex calls on Nelson businesses to back Hato Hone St John’s efforts to build a new Nelson Tasman Ambulance Hub by sponsoring its sold-out Findex Community Fund Charity Golf Day on 16 May 2025 at Nelson Golf Club. With 116 golfers across 29 teams set to participate, the event offers a key opportunity for businesses to support a vital community cause while engaging with local leaders.
The new ambulance hub will enhance Hato Hone St John’s ability to serve the region, where demand for emergency services is rising. In 2024, Hato Hone St John responded to 450,201 incidents nationwide, a 2.8% increase from 2023, with Nelson among the high-demand areas. The hub will support faster response times and upgraded facilities, addressing the region’s growing needs.
Limited hole sponsorships remain, starting at just $500 (excl. GST) for high-visibility activity holes like Closest to the Pin or Longest Drive, offering prominent branding and digital promotion. Findex is also welcoming donations of raffle items, contributions towards prize packs, and auction prizes to boost fundraising efforts throughout the day.
Auction prize donors will receive public acknowledgment during the event, logo placement in the auction catalogue, and digital visibility on the Charity Golf Day website, says Andrew Smith, Findex Nelson Managing Partner. “We’re thrilled by the response to the golf day, but not that surprised,” he smiles. “It’s always a big drawcard for everyone from the scratch players through to the weekend warrior, as the focus is on fun and community spirit.”
With full capacity, he adds that every sponsorship will shine. “It’s a great chance to get involved for not much money, connect with a vibrant crowd, and get behind a cause we’re all pretty keen on in Nelson. We know Hato Hone St John does critical work, and we know they really need that new ambulance station – so every contribution helps.”
Every contribution makes a difference, and we’re grateful for Findex’s support in helping us work towards funding the future ambulance station for the Nelson Tasman region, says Debbie Zwies, Hato Hone St John South Island Fundraising Manager. “Their fundraising efforts will assist us in strengthening our services and ensuring we will continue to meet the needs of our communities well into the future.”
The Ambrose-style 18-hole event at Nelson Links features stunning Tasman Bay views, BBQ and drink stations, and a lively ‘Party Hole’ hosted by Tax Management New Zealand with burgers and music.
Highlights include Bowater Motor Group’s Hole-in-One contest, offering a $40,000 car and a matching St John donation (only if someone has the skill, talent, or blind luck to card a 1!), followed by post-game networking, nibbles, and an auction featuring a $15,000 Fiordland Discovery trip for two among other exciting lots.
Since 2018, the Findex Community Fund has donated over $4.1 million to charities, and Smith is confident in achieving a record-breaking year in 2025. “Don’t miss this final chance to align your brand with a legacy of giving,” Smith exhorts.
