Waimea is holding second spot in the women’s Tasman Trophy competition after three rounds. A spirited comeback saw them overhaul Marist 22-20 in their match at Trafalgar Park on Saturday.
Marist looked home when it lead 15-3 but Waimea fought back with three tries to level at 20-all.
First five Bethan Manners proved the difference with a try, two conversions and a penalty goal.
The previous week, Waimea gave Kahurangi a real fright before losing 36-25 at Jubilee Park.
