Eager bookworms parked up outside Founders Heritage Park in lawn chairs early on Saturday morning, hoping to get the first rustle through the thousands of books on sale at day one of the Founders Annual Book Fair.
A queue of more than 100 lined the footpath of Atawhai Drive in anticipation of opening time of 10am on Saturday, with the first through the doors seen sprinting to get their hands on the first treasures.
The nine-day-fair will see thousands of second-hand books, DVDs and records up for grabs.
The building holding children’s books was packed to the rafters first thing on Saturday, as was the record and DVD building.
Whether seeking timeless classics, rare finds, or the next great read, the fair has something on offer for everyone.
The fair will run every day until Sunday 8 June from 10am till 4.30pm. Entry is $2 or a week pass is $5.
