
Ruby Bay’s Hayden Squance has taken out the Milnes Beatson Kaiteriteri Gold trail race for the second year running.
He cut the 21.km course in one hour 27 minutes and 19 seconds which was almost five minutes quicker than last year.
It was the latest in the long line of local successes for the Tasman Bay schoolteacher who also excels in swimming and triathlons.
Liliana Brown won the women’s half in 1hr43m44s.
Tegan Goodman and Erica Chapman-Oliver took out the 16km runs while Shanan Cohn and Paula Canning were first home in the 8kms.
368 people lined up for the annual event which takes in the Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve’s mountain bike park.
Part of the entry fee goes towards ongoing maintenance and development of the park.
