It was a case of who stole the Mahi Toi candle at Garin College last week as the entire school took to the stage for a creative game of Cluedo to celebrate its annual art festival.
Between dance, culture, drama, art, photography, film and even baking, the goal was to solve the mystery around who stole the Mahi Toi – The Spirit of the Arts – candle, in the most creative way possible.
With teachers Sharlene Belcher and Sarah Pumphrey from the arts department joining forces with arts leaders Abbie Parker and Naima Selg, the stage was set for this year’s Cluedo theme. Films were interwoven to investigate the mystery where Colonel Mustard, Reverend Green, Professor Plum, Mrs White, Mrs Peacock and Miss Scarlett were interrogated. Each suspect was, of course, a teacher.
Students showcased their talents, from kapa haka and Cluedo cakes, to quirky films, Pasifika group and house dances, while the music went from classical to rock and the bell-like tones of a harp.
Barbier Green House was the winning house with its Greatest Showman theme led by captains Reuben Greenwood and Elsie Western.
St Joseph’s, St Paul’s and St Peter Chanel Catholic schools joined the event for a matinee to showcase their talents in the arts.
