
Multiple weather alerts have now been issued for the Top of the South with heavy rain and strong winds expected from Wednesday evening.
A Heavy Rain Warning is in place for the Tasman District, northwest of Motueka, from midnight tonight until midday Friday – up to 300 mm of rain is forecast for the ranges.
There is uncertainty about the duration of this event so there are moderate chances of upgrading to a Red Warning.
NZTA is warning drivers to take care as State Highway 60 in Tākaka and Golden Bay will be affected.
A Heavy Rain Watch has also been issued for Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough for Thursday and Friday, with Strong Wind Watches also in place for the Marlborough region.
