More rain is on the way for Nelson Tasman, as some residents begin to grapple with the massive clean-up ahead of them after last week's deluge.
Metservice has issued Orange Heavy Rain Warnings for the entire region, beginning from early Thursday.
Between 120 and 150mm is expected in Tasman west of Motueka, including Golden Bay, but 150 to 220mm is possible in localised areas.
The remainder of the Tasman district, as well as Nelson and the Richmond and Bryant Ranges, are under the same type of warning with 80 to 110mm expected about the Ranges and Marlborough Sounds, with 60 to 80mm expected elsewhere.
The rain is expected from a developing low-pressure system over the Tasman Sea that is forecast to bring wet and unsettled weather to the North Island on Wednesday, with rain spreading into the South Island as the system intensifies on Thursday.
MetService Meteorologist, Kgolofelo Dube says the rain could potentially cause further impacts in already saturated areas such as Tasman and Nelson, where the risk of flooding and slips will be heightened.
The week is expected to end on a more settled note for much of the country, as the rain bands associated with the low shift off to the far east.
