With a whoop and a holler, the Motueka Arts Council’s winter arts workshops are underway.
The event was opened at an otherwise sedate Sunday market, with some hands-on creative activities as well as performances by two Motueka acts. Three-piece string band The Wingers and local music group The Mockingbirds drew a crowd, giving the happy snappers from the street photography workshop plenty of angles and opportunities to test their skills.
The workshops will continue through July and August, with singing sessions, mechanical toys, ukelele lessons and an art business forum all on offer during the coming few days.
Many other opportunities are available over the coming weeks, with several workshops already booked out.
Coordinator Nicole Tai is encouraging people to sign up sooner rather than later, lest any more opportunities either book out or are cancelled due to low numbers.
“We’ve intentionally kept the workshop fees super accessible so everyone in our community can have a go—no pressure at all, just a heartfelt invite to come along, try something new, and see where it leads.”
