Martin Farming recently held their 41st annual bull sale at Wakefield with the announcement that Richard and Denise are to be joined in their partnership by daughter Lucy and son in law Matt.
Lucy said they both feel extremely proud and privileged to be given the opportunity to help continue the legacy of breeding quality cattle, and to continue building on the strong relationships formed over many years with the farming community.
Thirty-one Angus bulls and six Hereford sires were sold through the ring. The Angus bulls averaged close to $10,000 and the Herefords $8500. The lots in both breeds introduced sons of some impressive new Australian sires, all coming with guarantees of fertility, soundness and temperament.
Richard commented that advancements in science have given them the tools to lift the bar and measure and compare animals genetic merit to produce bulls that will add value to any herd. He also emphasised the significant benefits achievable through crossbreeding and harnessing the power of hybrid vigour.
