Tasman District Rainfall reports show that over the past 24 hours, more than 186mm of rain fell at some locations in the Tasman District.
During the 24 hours from 7am Friday, the rainfall recorder at Anatoki in Golden Bay, recorded the most rain, with 186.7mm.
Waingaro at Little Devil, was close behind with 173.5mm, Tākaka at Canaan - 170.5mm and Aorere at Perry Saddle - 152.9mm.
Grounds are already sodden after heavy rain battered the region just two weeks ago, causing widespread flooding.
Motueka recorder sites measured just slightly less rain with Woodmans recording 147.5mm and Parker St - 126.5mm.
Rainfall rated peaked between 4 and 5pm, with the Woodmans site at Motueka, recording 36mm in just an hour - the heaviest rain mesaured across the region during the day.
Tākaka farmer Amanda Henderson sent in a video showing water pouring of the Tākaka Hill.
"I've never seen so much water pouring out of the hills."
Baton at Baton Flats, and Wangapeka at Walter peak, saw 17.9mm and 101.5mm respectively.
Wai-iti at Belgrove, saw 93.8mm over 24 hours, while the waste water plant at Tapawera recorded 77.1mm.
In Nelson, rates were less again, but it was the winds that caused damage in the city.
The Brook at Third House, recoded 85.5mm, while the upper Maitai recorder saw 80.5mm.
