Suono Bellissimo is holding onto the high note they hit at the Marlborough event The Big Sing recently, with an invitation to attend The Big Sing Cadenza in Timaru next month.
The mid-August event is attended by only 12 South Island choirs, with two mirroring events being held in the North Island, and the Motueka High School choral group is “very excited by the opportunity”, says school support Trish Taylor.
Trish says the choirs will each present two recitals consisting of two items at the Cadenza.
They will also attend workshops, rehearsals, and gather together for a massed item for the Gala Concert.
University of Auckland’s senior lecturer in voice, Dr Morag Atchison, is the event adjudicator.
The attending students are Estella Archer, Stevie Archer, Sienna Barrett, Evelyn Cane, Isla Fitzsimmons, Taylor Fulop, Morgan Grove-Roberts, Theo Hansen, Ava Kubo, Chalome Laitflang, Rin Landicho, Sophie Maxwell, Sophie Pratt, Jay Roxburgh, Freya Tan, Tobin Van Boekhout-McKenzie, Anneke Vlaming and Briony Wyatt, with ex-pupil Louis Lucas-Perry accompanying as the group’s pianist.
Suono Bellissimo’s upcoming fundraising events include a quiz evening at the Upper Moutere pub on Saturday, 19 July, followed by a performance evening at The Playhouse Cafe on Friday, 8 August.
