A popular donation-only muscle-toning fitness class is at fever pitch, thanks to its upgraded sound system.
Chloe Meegan and Kasey Burn instruct TONE with Kase & Chlo at Lower Moutere School, Motueka Memorial Hall, and Woodlands Rest Home and Retirement Village, with an 18-song playlist booming from speakers to get their students in the rhythm.
But the sound quality went out of kilter, threatening to literally become the sound of silence - an upbeat version of that song happens to be a class favourite.
“A couple of times the sound would cut off, and it had gotten to the point where the sound quality was crackly, they had sort of done their time,” Chloe says.
Then came a rip-roaring organisation, the Motueka Lions Club, with a donation to the tune of $4200 for their replacements, which Chloe says she and Kasey were “overwhelmingly grateful” for.
“Didn’t expect that at all,” Chloe says.
“[Our students have] all noticed quite a big difference [with the new speakers], we have a few sound tech people in our class, and they’ve really picked up on it. Even the oldies have noticed quite a difference as well, which is cool.”
Chloe says they now plan to give back to the Lions in the near future once the community settles from the Tasman floods recovery.
