What began as a modest home-based venture has grown into one of Māpua’s most cherished fashion destinations. This July marks four years since Jacqui Kennedy opened the doors to Jacqui’s Preloved & More (JPL), a boutique that blends sustainability, style, and soul.
Her journey into pre-loved fashion began with a personal desire that aligned with her values: quality over quantity, and conscious choices over fast fashion. With decades of retail experience behind her, the lockdowns gave Jacqui the push to reinvent her career.
JPL launched from her home, followed by a pop-up in the Upper Moutere Post Office, before settling at 5 Iwa Street in Māpua – a former art gallery now filled with curated fashion finds.
At the core is a global network of consignment partners. Jacqui collaborates with sellers to assemble a well-edited selection that includes contemporary labels and one-of-akind vintage treasures.
The “& More” in the store’s name signals her evolving vision. An exciting addition is a new range of luxurious Italian linen, chosen not just for its timeless elegance but also for its sustainable qualities – an ideal fit for JPL’s ethos. “I’ve noticed a real shift towards people wanting more natural fibres in their wardrobes,” Jacqui says. “Italian linen is breathable, durable, and has a beautiful, relaxed sophistication.”
Sustainability is at the heart of everything they do. “But more than that, I want people to feel like they’ve walked into a space that celebrates creativity, individuality, and care.”
Looking ahead, Jacqui says she is right where she wants to be, surrounded by fashion that tells a story, in a community that values authenticity.
