The sight of clouds of pollen floating over Waimea Inlet has been captured from Ruby Bay today.
The pollen from pine trees are released each late winter and early spring.
Pollen is produced by plants as part of their reproductive cycle but can cause hay fever for those who suffer from it.
A paper by researcher Scion on pine pollen shows that the pollen produced by pine trees causes an allergic reaction in less than 5% of people.
