Nelson Speedway was yellow and mellow for Sunday’s annual Show and Shine Daffodil Rally for Cancer.
The crowds certainly don’t wither year after year, marvelling at the glossy pride and joys parked up by dozens of Nelson Tasman classic and vintage car clubs. $50 notes were even handed to parking marshals for entry to the popular event, even though the entry fee was $40 less.
Those entry fees and money accumulated through raffles, the food carts and donations all get unloaded to the chosen charity, Cancer Society Nelson Tasman, with the fundraising tally still being finalised.
Ensuring the event’s pleasant journey was the Nelson Vintage Car Club (NVCC) and MS Ford Nelson. In the organising seat this year was NVCC member Dianne Lewis, who says revving up local funds for local cancer support never failed to get new and returning vehicles out of their garages.
