The Motueka pool committee’s fundraising group is well on its way to its annual $10,000 target, with four more opportunities coming up for the community in the next few weeks.
Having started off with “jolly sausage sizzles”, committee member Sue Clark says that the group has got their irons in a lot of different fires.
Their monthly car boot sales take place in the RSA carpark, with the next one coming up this Saturday, 6 September. Sue says the sales, which cost $10 a site, attract new people every month.
“People are short of money in our town at the moment, and it’s a good way of getting rid of things that they don’t really need.”
She is confident that their Downton Abbey movie fundraiser will be a sellout this month. Screening at Motueka’s State Cinema on Thursday, 11 September, the movie is the final in the Downton series. Tickets cost $20, which includes a raffle prize, and can be purchased via Motueka Community Store or by contacting the committee.
The team has also secured a spot at the ever-popular Sprig & Fern quiz night on Tuesday, 30 September, beginning at 7pm. Sue says there are a host of great raffle prizes on offer, so “get a team together and join in a fun night”.
Pop their upcoming bingo night, on Saturday, 1 November, in your calendar, too.
Rounding out the scheduled fundraisers, this will be held at the Motueka RSA, with cards available for $5 each on the night.
