A joint game of corn hole was something of a joyful shambles, according to Motueka MenzShed member Tony Small.
The men took on the women from the Crafty Tarts crafting group last Wednesday, with both groups having permanent and nearby bases at Marchwood Park.
The Crafty Tarts had their eye on the promised corn hole trophy, which turned out to be theoretical, to the good-natured indignation of the group.
Although it was ultimately unclear who had won the competition, the Tarts claimed it and sang their pre-prepared victory song.
“It was nice to have a joint event,” says Tony, gracious in defeat.
He masterminded the construction of the six brand-new corn hole boards, which are for sale for $100 each, including the throwing beanbags, storage box and scoring pegs.
The beanbags were made by the Crafty Tarts – one of many projects on which the two group have collaborated over the years.
