After more than a decade at the helm, Nayland College principal Daniel Wilson has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the academic year.
A letter sent to parents on Friday, says that Daniel will be returning to the role in which he was seconded last year, working as a leadership advisor for the Ministry of Education.
This role involves supporting principals and schools across the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast regions.
In a letter to the board Daniel said the time was right for new leadership as Nayland College enters its next chapter.
He noted that upcoming government education reforms will bring both challenges and opportunities, and he looks forward to supporting school leaders in his new role.
The Nayland College Board will begin the process of appointing a new Principal in the coming weeks.
“It has been a privilege to serve Nayland College,” Daniel concludes. “I remain a committed advocate of the school and our community."
