ZOE REISS
To raise money to refresh their outdoor play areas, Wakefield School is celebrating this year’s twilight gala on 1 November from 3pm to 6.30pm.
Alice Lamb, gala committee co-chair, says kids can enjoy a lot of activities including bouncy castles, rides, a petting zoo, face painting and cookie decorating.
The school’s kapa haka group and the band will both perform.
“We’ve got all different sorts of food, burgers, fish and chips, and we usually have vegetarian options as well.”
She also mentioned the second-hand stall for a good bargain hunting experience.
“We collect our donations of books and toys and clothes leading into it, and set that area up really well.”
Funds raised will refresh the school’s outdoor areas with new sand, better equipment and a redoing of the mini bike track. Some of the money will also go towards funding teacher aides for the classroom.
Wakefield School’s Twilight Gala is on Saturday, 1 November from 3pm to 6.30pm. Free entry.
