Motueka District Museum
The art of photography was in full focus recently as camera clubs from across the Top of the South and West Coast gathered for the 51st annual Seddon Shield Area Photography Convention, a celebration of creativity, community, and the craft of capturing the perfect shot.
Among the highlights of the event was the Mathewson Interclub Trophy, a keenly contested competition showcasing collections of images submitted by each club.
This year, the Motueka Camera Club emerged victorious, taking home the top honour and outshining strong entries from the Buller and Nelson clubs, which placed second and third respectively.
Motueka’s winning images will be on display at the Motueka Museum which is open now until 30 November. The exhibition offers a chance for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the exceptional work of the club’s talented photographers, from breathtaking landscapes to thought-provoking portraits.
The Motueka Camera Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 7.30pm at Te Noninga Kumu – Motueka Library, where members share tips, inspiration, and a passion for photography. Visitors and new members are always welcome to come along and join the creative community.
