Even buying answers couldn’t help the other teams beat Richmond’s Atkinson Crehan Law in the 2025 Forsyth Barr Quiz evening earlier this month.
The annual event, hosted by the local Forsyth Barr team, pits lawyers against accountants for a healthy evening of competition while raising money for local charity.
Lawyers have claimed the trophy every year so far.
The partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS)brought in $2470 this year, with a ‘buy an answer’ for $20 option prompting one team to spend $200 trying to get ahead.
But the team of four from Atkinson Crehan Law – Amanda Crehan, Marie Austin, Joe Sims and Nick Moore - had their wits about them and walked away with the trophy and celebratory sashes to boot.
BBBS mentor coordinator Sam Vause says the local team currently have 147 active matches which see a young person paired with a mentor.
“Some don’t have father figures, others have a lot going on at home and that one-on-one time with their mentor is just so important,” she told the group before accepting the donation.
BBBS board member, and Tall Poppy real estate agent, Nathan Dunn, who was one of the official markers on the night, suggested pitting his own profession against one another next year to raise even more money.
