The quirk might be due to carpel fusion – a natural mutation which causes a two-lobed lemon – or a fasciation, creating a conjoined fruit. Whatever the cause, Colleen is curious to see how large the quirky fruit will grow.
Colleen, who is a twin herself, built her Harbour Rd home with husband Neville 33 years ago. The lemon tree has been on site, producing an abundance of single-lobed lemons for the three-decade tenure.
