Motueka’s Oasis Education preschool has a bright future—thanks to the generous support of our local Bunnings store in Stoke.
At Oasis Education, excursions are a special part of our programme. When tamariki go out into the community, they are not only exploring their surroundings but also building important social skills—learning to be polite, confident, and respectful when meeting people who stop to say hello. Our kaiako regularly take children to the nearby Decks Reserve or to the library, which is just through the gate from the centre.
While these adventures offer rich learning opportunities, they also require careful planning and supervision. Keeping all tamariki safe and accounted for is always our top priority.
Our kaiako maintain constant visual scanning and communication to ensure everyone is safe and supported throughout the excursion.
Now, with the wonderful help of our local Bunnings team, this task has become a little easier. Oasis Education’s tamariki will be wearing bright, hi-vis Junior Tradie vests proudly displaying the Oasis Education name when out in the community.
These reflective vests will make our children easy to see - and even easier to spot when they are out exploring, learning, and engaging with others.
So, if you happen to see a group of young “workers” in their high-vis gear, busy building their skills and confidence, stop and say hello! It’s a great chance for our tamariki to practice their manners, conversation, and turn-taking skills in real-life contexts.
You might say that Oasis Education has a bright - and reflective – future.
