Nelson Tasman’s largest digital news platform has been given a fresh new look as its popularity soars.
Nelson App was founded in 2017 covering the Nelson city area and the content was accessible only on a smartphone app. Today that brand has been replaced with Top South Now, better describing what it does and what it covers.
Top South Now features news, sport, rural and lifestyle stories from across Nelson and Tasman.
But it also hosts the region’s events guide, What’s On Nelson Tasman, as well as property listings, vehicles for sale, funeral notices, a directory of local businesses and the digital versions of the region’s local newspapers and magazines, Nelson Weekly, Waimea Weekly, Motueka Golden Bay Guardian, Nelson Magazine and Best Life magazine.
Top South Now is available as a smartphone app, or at topsouthnow.co.nz. But there are plenty of ways to engage with its content, including via its Facebook page and weekly email newsletter. Last month the app and website had more than 1 million page views from over 80,000 unique users, highlighting a huge reach and engagement the platform has.
Top South Now is owned by Top South Media, a 100% locally owned and operated media company.
Top South Media's Managing Director Andrew Board says the rebrand is long overdue, but an exciting moment.
“The refreshed website and app will help people stay connected with what’s happening in the region, whether it's to find out what is on this weekend, why that road is closed or you’re looking for a new place to eat, Top South Now has it all.”
