A patchwork of culture and beliefs has come together in a vivid Christmas tree art piece now on display at Nelson Cathedral alongside 70 others.
The tree, created for the annual Christmas Tree Festival, was a labour of love by residents at Woodlands Care Centre and Village.
Residents service manager Gertrudes Vendelbosch says each square was individually crocheted, with the frames handmade from wood and wire.
“The tree represents our various culture and beliefs here at Woodlands retirement village.”
Gertrudes says the team is thrilled with the result and hopes many people visit the event, which runs throughout December, to enjoy the celebration.
