Julia Neumann and her team are amped that their Nelson-based fortnightly audio and video broadcast, Radically Alive Women Edgecast, has been given a plug at Aotearoa’s annual awards for web series and online video content.
Recognised with the Best Concept-Non-Fiction award at NZ Webfest on 16 November for its “unique approach to amplifying the voices of courageous women [and some men] who stand for aliveness and regenerative culture through in-depth, unscripted conversations”.
“Each episode invites listeners into real dialogue - often raw, always alive - and creates a space where stories unfold with depth and presence,” its award citation reads.
Julia says she and her independent podcast team, which includes Annika Korsten, Sebastian Norton, Mia Ruby Plum and Estefania Santamaria, were “glad and honoured” with the result after nearly three years since its first release in February 2023.
“This is an acknowledgement of us working as a team together in the feminine way that we’re promoting,” she says. “We see this award as momentum… our next step is expanding into more community-led conversations and seeking support to grow the platform so more voices can be heard.
Julia says an audience of around 100 listeners has ensued from local areas, the USA and her homeland, Germany.
“What stands out for me is the feedback that we get from our listeners, which is still a small base, so committed and so touched by the real-life education that our episodes have,” she says.
“The topics range from women’s sexuality, to conscious anger, to feelings, taking courage to walk one’s own path, becoming more conscious as humans, feminine ways of doing business, and mothering.
“When someone listens and thinks, ‘oh, this is how they do it, then if they can do it, I can do it too, in my own way’.
“This inspires change for people to take courage in their everyday life, and so each conversation can really support people in making shifts in their own lives.”
