Golden Bay Rodders Club is gearing up for its annual car show at Marchwood Park on Sunday, 4 January – and this event marks a special milestone as it celebrates its 10th year.
Club president Jamie Hovendon says the show was created as a relaxed, social gathering for car lovers, with no restrictions on type, brand or quality of vehicle.
While the club is known for its hot rods, the event welcomes anyone passionate about their car.
Visitors can expect a wide variety of vehicles, from classic American and European models to Japanese favourites, vintage cars and hot rods, Jamie says. It’s a chance to start the new year by meeting people, catching up with friends and enjoying a picnic among gleaming machines.
Entry is free for those displaying a car, while passengers and the public pay just $2. All proceeds this year will go to Motueka Riding for Disabled. The event is planned as rain or shine, but organisers say it will be cancelled if the forecast is particularly poor to protect the grounds.
“There’s always something new and different,” Jamie says, explaining that they never know what will turn up until the day.
Anyone can attend – whether you’re showing off your pride and joy or simply want to admire the cars.
