A tunnel slide, swings and ropes all took shape just in time for the school holidays at the new playground in Rosales Park, The Meadows.
The playground forms part of the 3,000sq m reserve that has come together in the past few months, following community feedback to the Tasman District Council about how to use the space.
Communications officer Tim O’Connell says around 120 ideas were submitted from the community, and though it was not possible to include every suggestion due to budgetary constraints, the final result is expected to become a destination playground that will be valued by residents. Alongside the slides and swings are log steppers and a wheelchair-accessible carousel.
Rosales Park is 100 per cent funded by developers, and Tim says it is a testament to the positive impact of the Reserve Financial Contributions which enables increased amenities within neighbourhoods without additional cost to ratepayers.
Boundary planting began several months ago, with feijoa and lemon trees being added. A permanent shade structure over the exposed concrete area is still to come.
The park sits between Summersfield Boulevard and Ambrosia St, improving access to the southwestern side of The Meadows and then on to Jubilee Park and nearby cycleways.
