
Parts of Tasman can expect heavy rain with a warning issued, while the rest of the region is under watch for the same weather system.
Metservice today issued an orange heavy rain warning for Tasman west of Māpua including Motueka, Murchison and Golden Bay.
The warning extends for the 18 hours from 4pm Wednesday through to 10am Thursday.
The rest of Nelson Tasman is covered by a heavy rain watch for the same time periods of heavy rain expected.
Residents within the warning area can expect between 80 to 120mm of rain with peak rates of between 10 and 20mm per hour expected.
Stream and rivers may rise rapidly and surface flooding, slips and difficult driving conditions possible.
